Written by James E. Diamond

Abstract

The Government of China and United Nations Development Program in December, 1997 ended a five-year project titled ìStrengthening Agriculture Education in Northwest China.î The project was designed to go to grassroots units to help people strengthen agriculture, solve problems, promote rapid, steady, and balanced growth by making use of foreign funds in the hinterlands, and focusing on farmers education. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture announced that all 365 agro-technical schools in China will implement these new teaching reforms. This paper describes agro-technical schools in China and the approach used to introduce teaching reforms.
